WordPress, straight out of the box, comes ready to embrace search engines. Its features and functions guide a search engine through the posts, pages, and categories to help the search engine crawl your site and gather the information it needs to include your site within its database.
WordPress comes with several built in search optimization tools, including the ability to use .htaccess to create apparently static URLs called permalinks, blogrolling, and pinging. There are also a number of third party plugins and hacks which can be used for search engine optimization (SEO)."
However, there is lots that can go wrong once you "open the box" and design a theme for your website.
This is where we come in to help ensure your site is properly optimized.
We design your theme with Good, Clean Code.
We teach you to create great, SEO friendly content.
We help you organize (categories, tags, and menus) all your content to be SEO friendly
We leverage 3rd party SEO plugins such as WordPress SEO by Yoast, and All-in-one SEO for control of Robots, Sitemaps, and Metadata (keywords, descriptions, titles).
We set up your Google Webmasters and Google Analytics accounts, and train you to understand them.
So yea, we have you covered.
It's magic. If you write it, they will come.
Well it's not exactly magic, but it seems like it with the results you can get from regular blogging.
The basic idea is this: WP blogs have the ability (through pinging) to alert the search engines of any newly published content. The more you hit publish, the more your content and website are spidered. As long as your content is focused on your target keywords, you are going to reinforce your authority for these keywords with every instance.
From there it's just a simple formula: the more you write, the more you are spidered, the more you show up in the SEs, the more you are read, the more you are trusted, the more business you generate.
For most the answer is that you should know the basics. If anything this will help you avoid making mistakes that will hurt your efforts. As explained above, WP is pretty much ready out-of-the-box. So you can apply some very basic SEO tactics and have great results.
Knowledge is power, and certainly, the more you know about and apply SEO tactics, the better chance you have at achieving your goals. But at some point you could end up looking too deeply into it, and not publish as often as you should because of over analyzation.
Let's face it, you are a busy business owner. You hardly have the time to commit to creating and publishing content in the first place. Worrying about SEO is only going to make that harder. So we recommend that you just focus on creating as much content as often as you can, with a basic SEO understanding that we'll give you in training.
If you need more attention than that, it would be best to seek help so that you can stay focused on what you do best.
